Stuart Road repairs

Residents have received an apology from the council for the duration of scaffolding around their homes as a contractor was found to make repairs on the roof soffit and fascias. Scaffolding was erected on 15th January and residents contacted Cllr Waller after it had been up for seven weeks without activity taking place. He contacted the council to express concern, but had to chase up a response which was received today explaining what had happened.

The initial roofing contractor had let the council down resulting in a second one, Inner City Roofing being brought in to renew all asbestos gutters and fascias to the block with the work being completed in the week once the re-procurement have been done. Residents complemented the team on their professionalism and tidy working.

Council officers have apologised saying that “I can only apologise about the length of time the scaffold was erected before the job commenced but hopefully with the provisions in place this should never happen in the future.”

Improved communications with residents is being pressed by councillors.
